A to Z Challenge - B is for...
...Black Bolt.
The Inhuman Royal Family |
If you're a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you might have heard last year's movie release announcements and wondered about the movie called "Inhumans." If you've been watching the TV show Agents of Shield, you will have a better idea who this strange group of superhumans are.
Black Bolt |
Black Bolt, or Blackagar Boltagon to give him his full name, is the King of the Inhumans. Originally appearing in early issues of Fantastic Four, Black Bolt is a man of few words, or, to be more precise, no words. Black Bolt's power is in his voice and so powerful that even a whisper can cause destruction. So the stoic leader of the Inhumans must communicate through hand signals or via a spokesperson.
Black Bolt and Medusa |
Black Bolt's wife, Medusa, often acts as spokesperson for the King which actually gives both characters a very deep and more interesting connection. Medusa is a powerful leader in her own right, but to also be the voice of the King gives her added strength.
So far, Agents of Shield haven't touched upon the Inhuman Royal Family or characters like Black Bolt and Medusa...I have no doubt though that we will see them in the Inhumans movie.
I have been a fan of the Inhumans for a long time so I'm looking forward to seeing the film versions of my favorites.
Medusa, Black Bolt and Lockjaw |
Are you looking forward to this movie, or any other comic book movies coming out soon? Let me know!

I know next to nothing about comic book characters. I'm glad that so many seem to have been re-booted and are being made into movies, thus introducing them to a new generation. (And old people like me who missed the boat first time around.) I'm going to look into this Black Bolt character. I work with autistic kids, and I think that he would appeal to a certain young man who communicates with modified hand signs. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a long time fan, so this burst in popularity is great for me. Things I only imagined...like X-Men movies...are now a reality. It's a blast. I hope the young man you're talking about likes Black Bolt. That would be very cool. :D
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine going around with a name like "Blackager Boltagan"? My goodness!

A lot of complexity in comics that I never noticed, it seems. So, uhm... just point me in the direction of the remedial room. I have some catching up to do.
ReplyDeleteHadn't heard of Black Bolt or the Inhumans; will have to ask my husband if he has :)
