Monsters Re-Release (Or, How I Owned Up To My Weaknesses And Learned To Love Editing)

Hello, Little Spartans, it's been a while hasn't it? I'm not going to sit here and give you the reasons I've not been around, but let's just say that I was taking a sabbatical and I wasn't at all kidnapped by aliens and experimented on. *WINK* But seriously, TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER! lol. No, just kidding. We can do that later. First of all, I'd like to talk about my book - MONSTERS. Hold on, stop shaking your heads. I know you know I wrote this one a while ago. In fact, some of you have even bought it.  Best of all, everyone seemed to like it.  I got great reviews and a terrific response from everyone who read the book. "Doyle was a great character..."  "...the story was well paced..."  "...unique..." "...a twisting thrill ride..." However, a few of the negative comments all hit on the same thing: head-hopping (POV ping-ponging between characters during a scene instead of shifting at a nat...

Gina West's Not-so-Hostile Takeover (Part 1)

Image
Hello everyone! Regina West here. How are you all doing? Today, I’ve donned my leather boots and my favorite corset and whipped the Spartan into submission so that I could take over his blog! He's currently whimpering in the corner. (There, there, Gareth. Yes, you may kiss my boot. Such a good little Spartan.) Kidding, kidding. Mostly. Although my strumming fingers went numb at the mere mention, I, nevertheless, recorded the song (about 50 times until I got it right) and sent it along with apologies for my clumsy playing. True to form, Gareth was gracious and supportive and forcibly overlooked all my missed notes, a kindness I very much appreciated. Since then, we’ve talked about everything from writing (obviously) to olives (he hates them; I lov...

The Next Best Thing Blog Hop

Hello blogoverse! It's 12/13/12 so it's time for a new post. I sometimes struggle for ideas so luckily the delightful and super-cool  @MeganPaasch  called me out on her Blog: Rhymes with Smash ! ...and so now to the questions: I hope I have some good answers... What is the working title of your book? It started off being called Solace. Which is the name of the fictional town it's set in. For the last six months though I've been calling it PERSEPHONE, after the main character. I think I'm going to stick with that. Where did the idea come from for your book? I had an idea for a trilogy of stories based around the disappearances of three young girls. The first was MONSTERS , my self-published book about a detective hunting for a young girl kidnapped on Halloween. The idea was to connect the stories both thematically and using the same basic cast of characters. One of the characters in the first story, Emerson Watts, used to be a Federal Agent and his life was de...
